Turkish Military Advance Checked in Black Sea
Earlier this month, Sultan HughRistik, announced a broad movement of Turkish troops into the Balkans, vowing to avenge previous Turkish defeats in the First Balkans War and restore Turkey to its traditional dominant role. As a result of the balkanization of the Balkans League in the Second Balkans War, Ottoman forces encountered shockingly little resistance on land; however, the Russian fleet blocked the advance of the Ottoman fleet into the Black Sea.
Schlieffen Plan Implemented
In a move anticipated by every other European monarch, Germany invaded France in March. Though its initial strike towards Burgundy was blocked by French troops based out of Marseilles, German military leaders are privately confident that the northern prong of their assault, currently outflanking the French defenses through the Netherlands, will achieve greater success.
English, Russian Forces Approach Scandinavia
Both the English and Russian militaries have mobilized their fleets and militaries, moving them towards Scandinavia. The Russian fleet has entered the Gulf of Bothnia, while elements of the British fleet have occupied the North and Norwegian Seas.
Italian Forces Advance Into Tyrolia
The Italian army recently advanced into Tyrolia, putting it in a position to threaten the rears of both Austria and Germany. Austrian advances into the Balkans and Galicia have left its homeland undefended, while German forces in Munich have already been deployed unsuccessfully against Burgundy.

Italy Invades Austrian Homeland
Earlier this month, Italian forces based out of Venice and supported from Tyrolia invaded and captured Trieste, seizing one of Austria's main production provinces, and placing its forces within striking distance of the currently undefended provinces of Vienna and Budapest. Though Italian forces are well supported, Austrian officials are privately confident that Vienna and Budapest will be defended and Trieste recaptured; when asked how, one official responded cryptically, "We have forces there. You just can't see them. Yet."
England Seizes Foothold on the Continent
English troops stormed ashore in Holland last month, threatening the rear of the advancing German fleet currently in Belgium, as well as presenting a potent threat to the German naval base at Kiel. Prime Minister Kevin vowed to defend England's interests, including Belgian neutrality and the continued survival of its allies.
Austria Strikes Undefended Russian Flank
Columns of Austrian troops entered Warsaw in October, taking advantage of the occupation of Russian forces in the south to seize one of Russia's main production provinces. The citizens of Warsaw have met the initial conquest with overwhelming approval, although the approval is now diminishing under the continued occupation, as well as the threat posed by advancing Russian forces in Livonia.
Contact Made With Alternate Universe
A delegation of properly credentialed diplomats recently emerged from a mysterious portal, claiming to be from an alternate universe. Governments are currently investigating how their supposedly classified protocols were leaked to this unknown organization.

British, German Fleets Clash
Earlier this month, the German High Seas Fleet left port for Netherlands. Supported by several divisions of infantry, the fleet was intended to dislodge and annihilate entrenched British troops; however, elements of the British Grand Fleet intercepted the High Seas Fleet. After an inconclusive hour-long exchange of gunfire, the High Seas Fleet retreated to its bases in Kiel, allowing the British forces in the Netherlands to continue holding their precarious foothold on the continent.
Italy; Ottoman Empire Continue Assault on Austrian Homeland
Beleaguered Austrian armies lost two more provinces, Serbia and Vienna, to advancing Italian and Ottoman armies. While surviving Austro-Hungarian officials continue to issue confident press releases from their new capital of Budapest, most analysts say that situation is grim for Emperor WrongBot. "The loss of Vienna, the capital and a key supply province for the war effort, is particularly going to hurt," says analyst Alex Richard.
France Repulses Abortive German Offensive
After nearly a year of preparations, German forces continued once again attacked France in May. Moving from the Ruhr and Munich into Picardy and Burgundy, they met with initial success. However, President AlexMennen soon was able to commit reserves rushed northwards from the Iberian peninsula to the fight; German gains crept to a halt, and they were soon being pushed back out of French territory. French officials are confident that their reserves will be enough to halt any future German attacks, and to go on the offensive; French soldiers were less pleased.

Last Austro-Hungarian Provinces Fall
Earlier this month Italian forces from Trieste captured Budapest, the last of Austria-Hungary's supply provinces. Count Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf, the Chief the General Staff of the Austrian army, formally surrendered the surrounded Austrian forces, while Emperor WrongBot attempted to make his way through enemy lines to the remnants of his northern army, currently regrouping in Galicia. With the voluntary withdrawal of Austrian forces from Warsaw, just ahead of advancing Russian armies, Austria is left without any industrial capacity to support its sole remaining army, and is expected to fully surrender shortly.
English Forces Liberate Belgium; Denmark
While the majority of German forces were occupied with assaults on the Netherlands and France, English forces launched amphibious attacks on both Belgium and Denmark. Both attacks, taking advantage of the distraction of advancing German forces, were successful; meanwhile, the German army seized the Netherlands, but continue to fail to gain entry into France. In a speech earlier this week, Prime Minister Kevin announced that, though Belgium had been liberated and its original war aims had been achieved, "they would not rest until the specter of German aggression no longer threatens our terri on the Continent." Analysts were unclear what interests he was referring to.

Indecisive Battles in the Balkans Are Indecisive
Despite their overwhelming numbers, the Russo-Italian alliance is temporarily stalemated by Turkey, while both sides are moving up reinforcements. An Italian advance from Budapest to Serbia failed after supporting units from Rumania were forced to stay behind to fend of a Turkish assault. The Turkish fleet in the Ionian Sea and infantry in Greece continued to bottle up the Italian navy in the Adriatic Sea and its ports in Albania. However, Turkey also failed to make any progress; it was forced to call off an attempted amphibious attack on Italy to prevent the escape of the Italian navy, while the Russia army was able to continue holding Rumania. Turkish bond prices dropped sharply following the failure of the Turkish offensives, reflecting the general belief that Turkey will eventually be worn down by the Russo-Italian alliance.
England, Russia Clash in Scandinavia
English reinforcements from the North Sea arrived just in time to block a Russian attack on Norway. The attack in March was followed closely by the advance of the Russian fleet from Sweden into Denmark; however, forewarned British forces had already moved to northern Denmark in preparation for a counterattack. The two sides fought an indecisive battle before withdrawing.
English-German Alliance Fails to Make Progress Against France
The French once again managed to repel every attack launched by the surrounding nations. French troops from Picardy fought a long artillery duel with elements of the High Seas Fleet, eventually managing to repel the main assault after grievous damage to both sides. Meanwhile, in Burgundy, a German attack from Munich was prevented due to a mistake in communication: the British Expeditionary Force expected the attack to come from the Ruhr instead of Munich, and planned accordingly. A spokesman for Prime Minister Kevin claimed that better coordination would surely lead to the fall of the Ruhr next campaigning season.

Commentary
No Clear Winner in Balkans Conflict
Following a season of violent conflict, each side has gained little. Turkey and Russia each attempted to outflank the other through Armenia, but as a result, both offensives failed. Meanwhile, the Russian army advanced on Italy's northern flank, capturing Budapest and threatening Vienna- but Italy managed to make up for the loss by capturing Serbia from Turkey. While Turkey didn't achieve any offensive successes against opposing supply centers, it did manage to retake Greece via a two-pronged offensive from the Aegean and Ionian Seas, and to pin down three major Italian forces on and around Italy. Analysts have mostly given up attempting to understand the three-sided war.
Stalemate on Western Front
Burgundy continues to remain uncontrolled by either alliance on the Western front; major offensives earlier this month from both sides failed to make any headway. Meanwhile, an amphibious assault by England on Picardy was repulsed by reinforcements from Brest, allowing the army currently in Picardy to participate in the fighting in Burgundy with its rear secure. At sea, the French fleet remained in the Mid-Atlanta Ocean, guarding French possessions in Spain and Portgual; England, wary of its offensive power, kept an army in Wales to deal with the threat of landings on the English coast.
Shockingly, No Progress in Scandinavia
English and Russian forces continued to clash in Scandinavia, with the fleets in Sweden and Denmark fighting a sharp but short and inconclusive battle. Meanwhile, a pair of Russian military leaders, rushing to secure the unguarded province of Norway, mistook each others forces for the enemy and opened fire. While the mistake was eventually corrected, both forces were forced to retreat by the onset of winter and the threat of a looming British fleet, as much of their supplies had been destroyed.

Balkans Powers Swap Supply Centers (Again)
After another confusing season, the Balkans War appears to be going nowhere quickly. Though Italy did manage to seize Budapest, they did so at the cost of leaving both Vienna and Serbia undefended, and entering a position with Russian forces on three sides; Russia's retreating forces seized Vienna the following month, though they are pinned in on three sides by numerically superior Italian armies. Turkey was the most successful power; it managed to seize Serbia, and lost no territory. Russia reinforced Rumania, taking away the another fairly tempting target, and Italy blocked an attempted Turkish advance into the Ionian Sea.
British Attack Beleaguered Germany
In a move surprising surprising most powers- though, evidently not Germany- British forces launch a broad attack on Germany in early May. Though the German army was able to prevent a British advance into the German homeland through Kiel, it was not able to prevent elements of the Grand Fleet from seizing Holland in its rear, and destroying the defending German unit. Meanwhile, French forces seized Burgundy and now stand ready to invade Germany- an assault that, without a guarantee of British neutrality, would probably overwhelm the German defenders. The one bright spot for Germany is that France and Britain are still at war; their fleets fought a major battle in the mid-Atlantic Ocean in March, won by France.
Norway Falls to Russia
Triumphant Russian fleets, supported from St. Petersburg, entered Norway without opposition in March. The move was a serious threat to British interests, as in addition to the loss of a supply center, Russian fleets are now less than a year away from the undefended British city of Edinburgh.

Commentary
Russia, Turkey Consolidate Gains as Italy Prepares to Counterattack
Russia and Turkey both managed to retain their previous conquests or Vienna and Serbia this season, shifting much of Italy's industrial capacity to its foes. An Italian counterattack against Vienna failed when the Italian army holding Budapest was destroyed. Italy is expected to be forced to disband two of its unit this winter, crippling its defense against Russia and Turkey- who seem to have stopped fighting each other, at least for now. However, the Italian navy did manage to make progress in the south, entering the Ionian Sea despite opposition from Turkish fleets in Greece and the Aegean Sea.
France, Germany, Push Britain Out of Benelux Nations
A simultaneous attack from France and Germany in September left the British reeling. A German attack from the Ruhr pushed the British out of the Netherlands; the survivors surrendered after scuttling the elements of the British navy trapped in port. Meanwhile, in Belgium, a sudden French attack caught the British defenders by surprise; they had been planning to support a French offensive into the Ruhr. With the British naval support distracted by a French advance from the mid-Atlantic Ocean, the French army in Picardy, with support from Burgundy, was able to seize Belgium- and with the failure of an offensive from Denmark, survivors from Belgium have been cut off entirely.
British High Seas Fleet Lets Russians Enter North Sea
The British High Seas Fleet shifted to the Norwegian Sea in September, allowing elements of the Russian fleet to enter the North Sea without opposition in October. Should it choose to do so, the Russian fleet is now in a position to threaten the British homeland- though Britain is capable of blocking any attempt to attack London or Edinburgh. However, it seems more likely that Russian intentions are friendly, as they chose not to hold Norway despite their ability to do so, and Britain voluntarily shifted aside its own fleet to let the Russians advance.

'Russia, France, and Germany Overwhelm England'
A simultaneous attack by Russia, Germany, and France pushed England out of the English Channel, Denmark, and Norway last season, seizing several more crucial English supply centers. Norway fell to a Russian fleet moving out of St. Petersburg, English forces in Denmark were pushed out by the German army following a failed offensive against Sweden, and the British fleet surrendered control over the English Channel to the French in order to protect London against a threatening Russian fleet. England will be hard pressed to hold out against any one member of the opposing powers, let alone all three; worse still for them, Russia, France, and Germany didn't fight among each other the previous season, and none has much to gain in the short-run by fighting each other.
'Balkans Powers Concentrate on Defense'
The Balkans were quiet the previous spring, with each of the major Powers content to remain within their trenches. While Russia focused on the conquest of Scandinavia to the north, both Italy and Turkey moved up fleets: Turkish ships moved into ports in the Adriatic, but were soon blockaded by the arrival of an Italian fleet from the Ionian Sea. Another Italian fleet moving up to replace the fleet in the Ionian fought a brief engagement with another Turkish fleet, after which both sides withdrew.

Commentary
'England Forced Out of Continent, North Sea'
Russian and German forces consolidated their gains in the previous season of campaigning; Russia now holds control of Scandinavia, while Germany has recaptured Denmark. Meanwhile, the German High Seas Fleet entered the North Sea, the Russian fleet forced the British fleet out of the Norwegian Sea, and France landed an army in Wales, supported by two fleets. The prospects for England look grim: by this point, any of the three surrounding Powers are probably capable of defeating England on their own, even without a full commitment of units. On the plus side for England, Russia is distracted in the South, Germany is vulnerable to a distracting Italian backstab, which did occur, and France still only has one army on English soil.
'Russia Advances Insignificantly in Bloody Balkans Fighting'
Another season of bloody, indecisive fighting in the Balkans ended with the Russian capture of Tyrolia, a strategic province that overlooked Trieste, Venice, and Munich. A major offensive by Turkey against Trieste failed, as did an attempted advance of the Turkish fleet; the progress of the apparent Russo-Turkish alliance was badly slowed by the large portion of their armies unable to reach the actual frontlines. The future prospects for the Italian defence of Trieste look grim, however; the three defending Italian units face a combined five Russian and Turkish units, with even more piled up behind the frontlines.
'Breaking: Italy seizes Munich in stunning surprise attack!'
Italian forces retreating from a defeat in Tyrolia slipped around the Russian lines to seize Munich, significantly helping Italian prospects for the war in the Balkans, and dealing Germany a disappointing setback. German forces, currently deployed for an invasion of England, were caught offguard; both Berlin and Kiel are also undefended. (The undefended Russian supply center of Warsaw is also only a year's march away; if Russia pulls back part of its force to defend Warsaw, then it must either give Turkey a juicy target, or delay the offensive against Trieste.) Though French or Russian aid will allow Germany to quickly retake Munich, barring a major shift in the Russian lines, the Italian will be able to retreat and continue fighting in Germany or Russia for a long time.

'Russo-Turkish Alliance Occupies Trieste'
The Russia-Turkey alliance continued to hold in Spring 1906, as Turkey, supported by Russian troops in Budapest and Vienna, seized control of Trieste. Meanwhile, Italian troops actually left Venice to march towards the undefended French province of Marseilles; a quick Russian attack from Tyrolia left Italian reinforcements from Rome bogged down in months of trench warfare. In the south, meanwhile, a series of naval attacks by both sides were launched, all of which failed.
'Russia Tries, Fails, to Backstab Germany'
Russian leaders attempted to seize the German province of Denmark in May, by convincing Kaiser tenshiko to evacuate and instead invade England. While they were partially successful, as the High Seas Fleet did leave Denmark, reinforcements from Holland that had been expected to attack Edinburgh instead arrived in time to block the Russian offensive. Russia also attempted to move towards Germany from Warsaw, although its leaders may have been intending to block an Italian advance, as indeed occurred. As a result, Italian forces still occupy Munich.
'French Offensive Against Fragmented England Continues'
French troops entered Liverpool with heavy naval support in March, while another French army landed in Wales in May. The English resistance to the ongoing French assault appears to have crumbled, as the central English government collapsed in March and the remaining English territories was divided up into fiefdoms controlled by the remaining generals. The collapse can be dated to the departure of the English leader, Kevin Fischer, for a land known only as "Asia"- obviously a place unknown to modern cartographers.

'Russia Attacks Turkey; Makes No Progress'
Russian forces from Vienna, supported from Budapest, struck at the Turkish-occupied province of Trieste earlier this month, immediately following their cessation of the strategic province of Tyrolia to their erstwhile enemies, the Italians. While the initial strike was blocked by Turkish reinforcements from Serbia, Turkey will probably be unable to continue to hold Trieste if Russia and Italy and Italy are truly allied.
'German Reconquest of Munich Threatened by Russian Advance'
Italy against attempted to voluntarily vacate Munich in September, this time successfully; the German army, with French support, reoccupied Munich just before the important Winter construction season. However, the reconquest was threatened by the advance of two major Russia armies, from Warsaw and Tyrolia, which are both in a position to threaten Munich (and one of which can also threaten Berlin.) Meanwhile, the Russian fleet pushed its German counterpart out of the North Sea, which retreated to Heligoland, and captured Denmark.
'Seemingly Secure France Continues Conquest of England'
French armies, with support from their fleet in the North Sea, occupied London earlier this month following the defeat of the remaining local forces. Meanwhile, in the north, the French army ensured the survival of the English warlord occupying Edinburgh, and are in a position to take it early next year. Their German border also remains secure, though Marseilles continues to be vulnerable to an Italian attack.

'Turkey forges ahead in Balkans'
After countless years of struggle, the Turkish fleet finally seized the Ionian Sea in late May, leaving the Italian province of Tunis open and undefended against a Turkish offensive. Meanwhile, Italy failed to retake Trieste after being retreating from Munich; should Tunis, too, fall to Turkey, they will be forced to disband one of their remaining units, leaving them in a very poor position against Turkey. Russia has thus far chosen not to intervene; their only combative move, supporting Trieste, made no difference to the final outcome. However, despite its ongoing offensive against Germany and a recent mutual disarmament along the Rumanian-Bulgarian border, Russia still has a powerful force of 3 units in the south.
'Russia-Germany war's first months inconclusive'
Russia began its expected offensive against Germany in late January, as the outnumbered Germans rushed to shift their military onto the defensive. The initial Russian attacks attained much less success than their leaders had hoped for; the German army blocked attacks on Kiel and Munich, though Russian armies in the poorly-defended east did manage to seize the Germany capital of Berlin. In May, the German navy counterattacked, seizing control of Denmark and forcing the Russian army to retreat to Sweden. However, without French, Turkish, or Italian aid, Germany's longterm prospects remain grim, due to the overwhelming Russian numbers.
'France retains freedom of action, despite threat to Germany and hostile action from Russia'
The French army advanced into the Ruhr earlier last month, threatening virtually every remaining German province; more reinforcements were not far behind. The apparent French threat to Germany, however, was somewhat mollified by the fact that the Russian fleet blocked a French offensive towards Edinburgh in May; the apparent lack of a French-Russian alliance gives Germany an opportunity to gain support from one side, or at to play the two nation's militaries off against each other.

'France Takes Munich'
While Germany once again managed to hold off the numerically superior Russians in Fall 1907, they didn't prevent France from striking their rear, seizing control of the vital province of Munich. With the fall of both Munich and Berlin to foreigners, Germany will be unable to replace the army lost defending Munich, harming their defense of Kiel, Holland, and Denmark- though France is not in a position to take any more territory on its own, and now shares a border with Russia, making direct conflict on the Continent between the two Powers possible for the first time.
'Strangely Passive Italian Forces Lose Tunis'
Italian forces sunk into a strange lethargy in Fall 1907, making no offensive or defensive moves, even against the weakly defended province of Trieste. Instead, the Turkish offensive continued, with their fleet seizing control of Tunis, while more reinforcements moved up from the Eastern Mediterranean. In the north, Turkish and Russian fleets simultaneously moved westwards, further decreasing the ability of either power to threaten the other, while a French fleet entered the Western Mediterranean.

'Russia Captures Denmark; Clashes with France'
The Russian army again launched an attack from Sweden against Denmark, supported by elements of their navy, and finally succeeded in capturing the province. However, their success was not complete: the French army, based in Munich, prevented Russian reinforcements from moving up into Silesia, with what was probably deliberate hostile intent, and the German navy from Denmark will be able to retreat into the Skagerrak, threatening Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Unless Russia is willing to risk the loss of one of the three territories, their advance will consist of only a single army from Berlin- no match for the French army group assembled in Belgium, the Ruhr, and Munich.
'King Alexandros Killed In Turkish Bombardment!'
As the Turkish fleet continued to advance, a battle group moved into the Adriatic and began to shell the mostly-empty province of Apulia. Italian King Alexandros, who was visiting Apulia at the time, was caught in the bombardment and did not survive; he leaves behind a grieving wife and son, and a divided empire on the verge of collapse, as Turkey continues to move up more fleets and armies against the fractious warlords who have sprung up following the King's death.
Privately, French officials were worried about their poorly-guarded southern frontier; with Turkish fleets already only a season away from Spain, and the Turkish army continuing to advance alongside the strongly-defended Turko-Russian border, Turkish forces could soon be within striking distance of the French homeland.
Following his death, national leaders have been remarkably quick to ensure their own safety; defenses around most capitals have been massively increased- though, remarkably, the Kaiserin chose to remain in an undisclosed location in Berlin, Germany's occupied capital, defiantly proclaiming that she would "Never give up! Never surrender Berlin!"

Another major French offensive in March ground to a halt outside, with fire support from the Russian fleet making allowing the beleaguered remnants to hold on for a few more months. For now, neither Russia nor France has enough firepower nearby to take the city against the other's wishes.

Commentary
'Germany Collapses Under Franco-Russian Onslaught'
German resistance crumbled in late November 1908, as the French army slammed into the rear of their lines. French forces quickly seized Belgium, while their support from Munich allowed the Russian army to seize Kiel. (In turn, France finally captured Edinburgh.) Meanwhile, despite a successful German counterattack that seized the North Sea, Russia managed to hold onto all of its provinces, leaving Germany without any supply bases.
'Turkey Advances Cautiously'
A Turkish army advancing from Trieste with the support of the Turkish Adriatic fleet seized Venice in late September, then dug in in preparation for the winter as reinforcements moved up from Albania and the Ionian Sea. Turkish forces remained on high alert during the entire period, with the armies garrisoned in Romania and Serbia advancing towards the frontier in late October in order to prevent Russian interference with the move from Albania to Trieste.

Commentary
'France, Russia Fight Stunningly Inconclusive War'
French and Russian forces, from the Norweigan Sea in the north to Silesia in the south, exploded into action in late February. France launched a series of attacks, seeking to capture Kiel and force the Russian fleet out of the Atlantic; however, advances by Russian fleet and a determined resistance by the Russian army in Kiel, supported from Denmark, allowed Russia to prevent France from making any gains- though it also failed to move its fleet out of Norway. Another cause of the static was the failure of both sides to use all of their units; the French left an army in Munich lying idle, while the Russians didn't advance their fleet from Sweden.
'Turkey Mops Up Italian Resistance'
Turkish forces seized both remaining Italian provinces, destroying a fleet in the process and isolating the only remaining Italian unit in Tyrolia, without any possibility of supply. With the conquest of Italy complete, Turkish forces have been freed up to fight elsewhere, including a possible intervention in the north; Czar Thausler and President Alexmennen both left several units in the south to guard against Turkey, but a determined Turkish offensive will overwhelm them.
